I had been dying to read this latest instalment in the Falling Kingdoms series and it did not disappoint. I dare say I liked it a bit more than the previous book.
Multiple POVs add dimension to this awesome book. I enjoyed seeing how far all the characters had come and I felt some of the plot holes from the previous book were nicely wrapped up in Frozen Tides.
I liked the understated romance elements and even though it wasn’t ‘action-packed’, it still made for a really intriguing read. Lucia is by far the most interesting character in this. It was especially fascinating to watch her stuggle with her power and figure out which way she wants to go while being influenced by Kyan, the fire elemental.
Each character had his/her own struggles to go through. Some chose the way which benefited the greater good and others were more selfish in their choices. Unlikely alliances are formed and some characters allow glimpses into their hearts that surprised me indeed!
Finally, an acknowledgement of love is revealed which made me very happy since I had long suspected this and kept shouting at the characters to admit it already.
All in all, Frozen Tides is the best book so far in the series and contains just the right mix of the elements of fantasy I like to leave me satisfied and craving the next book. Its compelling interwoven layers of court intrigue, magic, romance and betrayal is guaranteed to keep you engaged. If you haven’t picked this series up yet, I highly recommend that you do!
